Budget 2011: Speech begins

23rd March 2011

The Chancellor, George Osborne has risen to his feet in the House of Commons at 12. 30pm and has embarked on the second Budget statement of the Coalition Government. It is expected that he will lift the personal income tax threshold and, possibly, scrap the planned fuel duty increase. The major focus of the Budget is set for measures aimed at encouraging growth following the cuts introduced in last year's Spending Review.
